Honored Elder Stipend Purpose
The purpose of this benefit program is to afford Tribal elders who have reached the age of seventy (70) years, identified as "honored elders," support for a healthy and happy lifestyle and to begin to meet the needs of these elders by providing a monthly stipend. The stipend is hereafter referred to as the Honored Elders Stipend ("HES").

ELDER Stipend Purpose
The purpose of this general tribal welfare program is to increase overall tribal health and educational attainment and to ameliorate the negative effects of termination on tribal individuals, families and the Tribe as a whole, by providing a payment that can be used to offset the additional expenses associated with persons over the age of fifty-five who have suffered personal, family, or tribal injury as a result of termination, because the Tribe looks to these persons to lead our progress.

On July 1, 2006 the Tribe issued the first Honor Elders Stipend to Elders age 70 and over. One year later the ELDER Stipend was added to include all Tribal Elders age 55 to 69. On the month following the Elders 55th birthday, they begin receiving a check mailed to them at the address on file with the Program. The monthly amounts issued are listed below. The increase in the monthly amount begins the month following the Elders 62nd and 70th birthday. Payment are automatic from a list provided by Enrollment each year, however if you do not receive a check by the 10th of the month contact the Elders Program at (800) 922.1399 immediately to have your check investigated. Checks are issued by Siletz Management, Inc (SMI) and authorized by the Elders Program. If you have a change of address, it is best to call Enrollment as well as the Elders Program to ensure that your change is made. Checks are mailed out of the SMI office on the first day of each month, however if the first falls on a weekend or Holiday, the check is mailed the prior business day.

AGE 55 TO 61: $100.00 PER MONTH
AGE 62 TO 69: $200.00 PER MONTH
AGE 70 AND OVER: $300.00 PER MONTH
