The Athabaskan Language

Our Language is as old as time itself. For countless generations our people lived out their lives speaking our words. In all that time, our words were never written. They were carried in the hearts and minds of our ancestors. They were learned by each generation and in turn taught to the next. For all of our history up to the 1850's our people prospered, by obeying the Laws of the Creator and living in balance with the land. With the arrival of the Europeans a tragedy began to unfold for our People, which in many ways extends to this day.

Tribal History Book

Tribal History Books Available By Mail

Tribal History books can be mailed to those Tribal Members who did not receive a book at one of the November book distributions. To receive a book, complete and submit a Book Request Form to:

ATT: Tribal History Book
Confederated Tribes of Siletz
P.O. Box 549
Siletz, OR 97380

The form states that you must submit a photocopy of your picture identification or a Certification of Indian Blood Degree (CIB). To obtain a CIB, contact the Enrollment Department staff toll free at 1-800-922-1399, extension 1258 or direct at 541-444-8258. Acceptable photo identification includes: tribal photo enrollment identification, a driver's license, a state identification card, a student body card, passport, armed forces pass, fire arms license, or other government issue ID.

In the event a tribal member (adult or minor) has no photo identification, another person who does have photo ID can sign the form in front of the notary attesting that the tribal member is the person named on the form based on the fact that they personally know that tribal member.
