Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Siletz Tribal Human Resources Department to obtain, develop and train the most important resource the Tribe has – human resources. This department will provide service to Tribal programs and employment applicants in an efficient, respectful and helpful manner. It will assist employees with skill development to ensure quality services to Tribal members and personal growth of Tribal employees.

 

NOTE: 

Applications may be mailed, emailed, faxed, or hand-delivered to our office. 

Please note that applications at this time cannot be emailed through the CTSI website.  Applications may be emailed directly to the human resources email.  Applications must be complete and contain the applicant’s signature.    If you wish to apply for multiple positions with The Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, please submit a new completed application for each position desired.

Incomplete applications, late applications, and resumes without an application will be returned.  CTSI requires that a Tribal application be completed.  Resumes will not be accepted in place of a completed application.

Introduction:
This position determines eligibility for all Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act (NAHASDA) programs, maintains waiting list for all programs, and processes appeals.

Requirements:
High School diploma or GED and one years' experience in a business office setting. Incumbent will attain certification in National American Indian Housing Council's (NAIHC) Certified Housing Management Specialist Track within 15 months of hire. Knowledge of: Public/Indian Housing field or rental property management (preferably Housing and Urban Development (HUD) assisted projects), preferred. Public/Indian housing law and regulations, preferred. Correct use of standard office equipment, including computers, printers, copiers, calculator, FAX, postage meter and recording equipment, preferred. Filing, record keeping and program/project tracking systems. Experience in: Microsoft word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications a must; MS Publisher and Housing Data Systems (HDS), preferred. Oral and written communications for the purpose of instructions, verifying eligibility/applications, obtaining information, and conveying messages. Planning and scheduling work activities and performing duties with minimum supervision. Ability to: Work and relate well with Native Americans. Quickly change work priorities and job assignments. Work effectively and cooperatively with staff, other department and entities. Read, understand, apply and explain Tribal/department policies/procedures and NAHASDA regulations. Other: Must possess a valid Oregon State driver's license, insurance and be eligible to drive a GSA vehicle. Be willing to travel within the Tribes 11-county service area.

Duties:
Conduct program intakes, including: Distribute program applications, receive all program applications, ensure completeness, verify information, make eligibility determinations and notify applicants of eligibility or ineligibility, enter eligible waiting list applicant information into HDS data management software program, update waiting list applicant information every six-months and re-determine eligibility, maintains waiting list for all housing services and programs, and ensure the waiting list is current to allow quick occupancy of vacant units. Administration of complaint resolution process: Accept, date-stamp and file complaints into complaint notebook; initiate informal resolution process, route copy of complaint to appropriate staff person; and monitor complaint notebook to ensure timely responses. Prepare rough draft letters, memorandums and reports as requested, including monthly articles for newsletter publication. Assist with yearly Self-Monitoring assessment of housing activities. Administration of Emergency Housing Assistance program. Back up coordination of after hour conference room usage and schedule conference room appointments. Support efforts in building strong resident relations to create a positive community environment. Maintain a positive, friendly and helping manner in dealing with all clients. Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of kitchen area to be free of clutter, used dishes and utensils. Other duties as assigned.

All new employees will serve a six-month probationary period to enable the General Manger to determine their suitability as a tribal employee. After the six-month probation the employee will be evaluated of his/her performance and at that time, it will be, decided if the employee is entitled to a regular employee status.
