Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Siletz Tribal Human Resources Department to obtain, develop and train the most important resource the Tribe has – human resources. This department will provide service to Tribal programs and employment applicants in an efficient, respectful and helpful manner. It will assist employees with skill development to ensure quality services to Tribal members and personal growth of Tribal employees.

 

NOTE: 

Applications may be mailed, emailed, faxed, or hand-delivered to our office. 

Please note that applications at this time cannot be emailed through the CTSI website.  Applications may be emailed directly to the human resources email.  Applications must be complete and contain the applicant’s signature.    If you wish to apply for multiple positions with The Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, please submit a new completed application for each position desired.

Incomplete applications, late applications, and resumes without an application will be returned.  CTSI requires that a Tribal application be completed.  Resumes will not be accepted in place of a completed application.

Applications must be received by 4:30pm on the position’s closing date.

Introduction:
The Siletz Tribal Head Start Program provides a developmentally appropriate and Native American culturally relevant preschool experience which promotes school readiness skills for children who are 3 and 4 years of age. The program provides comprehensive services to children to ensure they are up-to-date on all well child care and to promote their physical, social emotional and cognitive development. The Head Start Program offers families the support they need to connect with community resources to further their personal growth and to support them in their role as their child's first and most important teacher.


Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED and six months experience in a structured early childhood education setting (Pre-School, Head Start, Kindergarten, Day-Care Center), and must obtain Child Development Associate (CDA) credential within 2 years from hire date, -OR- an associate's or bachelor's degree (in any area) or be enrolled in a program leading to such a degree. Ability to: Work effectively with low-income families. Use a positive approach in directing child behavior. Be comfortable working with children and families from a variety of social, ethnic, economic and cultural backgrounds. Work with cooperatively with other program staff. Work cooperatively as a team member and accept direction. Be reliable and punctual. Demonstrate skill at carrying out instructions and completing assigned tasks. Meet the physical demands of the classroom environment and to facilitate and support the physical activity of 20 young children inside, outside of the classroom, and as necessary, to intervene physically to protect the health and safety of the children. Must be able to demonstrate skill in working and relating with a group of preschool age children. Use positive methods of child guidance that includes redirection, consistency, prevention, tolerance, and sensitivity. Other: Obtain First Aid/CPR within first 30-days of hire. Obtain Food Handlers card within 15-days of hire. Screened for tuberculosis. Tolerant and sensitive when working with children and families.

Duties:
Provides assistance to the classroom staff to support the delivery of a developmentally appropriate classroom environment and early childhood education program for 20 children. As assigned, assists with activities to carry out daily lesson plan. Participate fully in all assigned duties and in all classroom activities. Assist with supervision of children in the classroom to ensure that no child is ever left alone. May assist with delivery and set-up for food service and is required to assist with meals and eat with children. May be assigned to ride the bus in the morning and afternoon routes to monitor children and to guide and direct behavior. May assist with daily cleaning, sanitation procedures, classroom set-up, and preparation. Other duties as assigned

All new employees will serve a six-month probationary period to enable the General Manger to determine their suitability as a tribal employee. After the six-month probation the employee will be evaluated of his/her performance and at that time it will be decided if the employee is entitled to a regular employee status.

Conditions of Employment:

The selectee will be required to submit to a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use before employment.
