Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Siletz Tribal Human Resources Department to obtain, develop and train the most important resource the Tribe has – human resources. This department will provide service to Tribal programs and employment applicants in an efficient, respectful and helpful manner. It will assist employees with skill development to ensure quality services to Tribal members and personal growth of Tribal employees.

 

NOTE:

Introduction:
The incumbent provides support to the physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or clinical nurse in patient examination and treatment. Responsible for patient histories, collecting and documenting patient vital signs, collection and preparation of specimens, performing routine laboratory procedures, maintain up to date charts, communicate with patients and other medical professionals, maintenance and cleaning of exam rooms procedure rooms, supply and storage rooms, supply orders, assisting in minor surgical procedures, and maintain equipment and sterilization of equipment.

Requirements:
High School diploma or GED and a Certified Medical Assistant certification - OR - 2 years experience as a Medical Assistant - OR - an equivalent combination of specialized education and/or experience. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position to be filled. Ability to: Work with a wide variety of people, and able to communicate effectively and relate to tribal and community members, and other staff. Complete training necessary for limited special licenses. Other: Current healthcare provider CPR or ability to obtain within 30-days of hire.

Duties:
Take patients to exam rooms and chart vitals including weight, height, blood pressure, heart rate and temperature. Maintain general appearance, cleanliness of exam rooms, and keep exam rooms stocked.
Wash, dry and fold, as well as maintain, inventory of clean medical clothing and related supplies. Prepare and replenish necessary medical supplies. Maintain and perform other housekeeping duties as assigned. Clean and sterilize instruments. Maintain and calibrate diagnostic equipment including insuring quality control. Assist patients and help prepare for examination. Take patient histories including medication reconciliation, past medical and social history. Assist medical provider during procedures such as, women's health exams, sutures, minor surgical procedures and wound care. Give over the counter medications under supervision of a registered nurse. Administer immunizations to adults under supervision of RN. Assist in the collection of specimens. Instruct patients regarding preparation for tests. Communicate with patients regarding labs, diagnostic tests, and referred appointments under direction from provider. Perform diagnostic tests such as EKG's, tympanometer, blood glucose tests, HGB A1C tests, and other CLIA waived tests under supervision of a registered nurse. Respond to all code blue pages with crash cart. Chart and bill for services done. . Set up and maintain patient charts for daily use. Answer, call, send and receive medical information to and from other providers by means of telephone, fax machines, computers, using appropriate means to ensure patient confidentiality. Contact insurance companies to request prior approval for tests or referrals as directed by provider. Maintain current CPR card. Other duties as assigned by provider or RN

All new employees will serve a six-month probationary period to enable the General Manger to determine their suitability as a tribal employee. After the six-month probation the employee will be evaluated of his/her performance and at that time it will be decided if the employee is entitled to a regular employee status.

Conditions of Employment:
