Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Siletz Tribal Human Resources Department to obtain, develop and train the most important resource the Tribe has – human resources. This department will provide service to Tribal programs and employment applicants in an efficient, respectful and helpful manner. It will assist employees with skill development to ensure quality services to Tribal members and personal growth of Tribal employees.

Introduction:
The Patient Care Coordinators work together to facilitate the coordination of patient visits by scheduling clinic appointments, performing the check in process; including updates and new patient registration, gathering and verifying patient insurance information, and assisting patients in determining eligibility for benefits and services of the Oregon Health Plan, Medicare, other third party insurance's, and Contract Health Services. Also serves as the key personnel for reception duties.

Requirements:
High School diploma or GED and two years of clerical experience - OR - an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Knowledge of: Record keeping and scheduling appointments. Medical terminology preferred. Medical office billing desired. Ability to: Relate well to clinic patients, tribal staff, insurance companies as well as federal, state and local health agencies and the general public. Handle possible stressful situations involving explanation of insurance eligibility and benefits to patients. Accurately type 40 words per minute and input data into a computer system. Be well organized and able to handle a large volume of work.

Duties:
Serves as key personnel for greeting all visitors to the clinic. Utilizing appropriate functions of electronic health record. Answers all incoming calls, screens callers, and takes messages. Schedules all medical, and some optical appointments. Performs check in process at time of appointment for scheduled patients. Verify street address, phone number and insurance coverage at each visit. Determine eligibility of patients seeking clinic services by requesting documentary proof of Indian ancestry and/or tribal membership, according to IHS guidelines. Registers new patients, updates information of existing patients and scans in documentation. Assists patients in determining eligibility for the OHP, Medicare, other insurance plans and in identifying alternative resources for reimbursement of services rendered. Explains benefits and services covered by insurance's and Contract Health Services. May also perform other duties as needed and assigned.

All new employees will serve a six-month probationary period to enable the General Manger to determine their suitability as a tribal employee. After the six-month probation the employee will be evaluated of his/her performance and at that time it will be decided if the employee is entitled to a regular employee status.
