Introduction:
Assists pharmacists with delivery of quality pharmaceutical care including: preparing, compounding, distributing and dispensing of medication to patients. Ensures the provision of healthcare services takes place in a professional environment and is accomplished efficiently.

Requirements:
Pharmacy Technician III: High School diploma or GED, and must obtain an Oregon Board of Pharmacy registration within six months of hire, and must obtain National Pharmacy Technician certification within 12 months of receipt of Oregon Pharmacy registration. Pharmacy Tech III will be eligible to move to Pharmacy Tech II after one year of pharmacy or medical experience. Knowledge of: Computer systems, fax machine, copy machine, multi-line telephones, MS Word, WordPerfect, Excel, on-line terminology services, and other medical text, preferred.
Pharmacy Technician II: High School diploma or GED, and one year experience working in medical or pharmacy field, and must an obtain Oregon Board of Pharmacy registration upon hire, and must obtain a National Pharmacy Technician certification within 12 months of receipt of Oregon Pharmacy registration. Pharmacy Tech II will be eligible to move to Pharmacy Tech I once National Certification is achieved, Oregon Board of Pharmacy Certification is awarded, and has two years working experience. Knowledge of: Medical terminology preferred, Computer systems, fax machine, copy machine, multi-line telephones, MS Word, WordPerfect, Excel, on-line terminology services, and other medical text, preferred.

Duties:
Pharmacist Technician III: The goal of this position is to train in all aspects to become a certified pharmacy technician. This training process will include study/learning of the following duties: Processes prescriptions, including data entry, insurance adjudication, prior Authorizations, filling, dispensing, and collecting funds where applicable. Contacts providers for prescription refills. Contacts providers for the verification of various prescription elements (drug name, directions, quantity, etc.). Contacts insurance for verification, payment information, prior authorizations. Transfers prescriptions to outside pharmacies. Receives and places calls to and from various entities (patients, providers, Pharmacies, suppliers.) Performs duties of Pharmacists in his/her absence as requested except those duties not allowed by current Oregon Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations. Assists Pharmacist with billing/payment of prescriptions. Assists with pharmacy activities: Performs pharmacy-billing activities.
Orders and receives pharmaceutical merchandise. Provides accounts receivable and payable transactions to the Pharmacy Manager. Conducts monthly and yearly inventory. Prepares and sends merchandise for credit. General administrative duties such as typing, filing, spreadsheet maintenance. Other duties/projects as assigned. Assists with stocking and replenishing l inventory: Helps to maintain accurate stock/inventory/formulary lists. Submits receives and stocks daily pharmaceutical order. Prepares requisition requests. Sells prescriptions and over the counter medications. Operates cash register and accurately enters sales transactions. Operates postage meter. Delivers daily cash and sales transactions to Pharmacy Manager monitors retail pharmacy area for safeguarding of over the counter medications and supplies; alerts supervisor of suspicious activity. Delivers mail order prescriptions to post office as needed. Review charts for target drug reviews as requested by Pharmacists. Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor. Until such time the employee obtains the Temporary Technician Licensure, this position will only be allowed to perform clerking duties which include: Assists the Pharmacists in carrying out all functions related to the dispensing medications as allowed by the Oregon Board of Pharmacy: Assists in answering phones. Clerking the front window with cash register duties (including selling prescriptions and over the counter items). Operates a postage meter. Delivers mail order prescriptions to post office as needed. Performs courtesy calls to patients and returns to stock any necessary medications. Preparing Pharmacy for opening and closing daily. Replenishes stock at front. Replenishes vials for Pharmacy Tech's filling prescriptions. Contacts providers for the verification of various prescription elements (drug name, directions, quantity, etc.). Assists the pharmacist with pharmacy management activities: Performs prior authorization activities. Delivers daily cash and sales transactions to Pharmacy Manager. Processes check requests. Aids in preparation of documents for patient and provider hand outs. Consolidates and removes garbage and recycling debris from workstations. Performs various filing and clerical duties as needed. Receives and places calls to and from various entities (patients, providers, pharmacies, suppliers.) Assists with stocking and replenishing pharmaceutical inventory: Assists with orders and receives and shelves pharmaceutical merchandise. Helps to maintain accurate inventory including aiding in monthly and yearly inventory. Assists in drug recall procedures. Additional Functions: Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor.

All new employees will serve a six-month probationary period to enable the General Manger to determine their suitability as a tribal employee. After the six-month probation the employee will be evaluated of his/her performance and at that time it will be decided if the employee is entitled to a regular employee status.

Conditions of Employment:
