The incumbent serves as Resident Aide at the Men's Transitional Living Center (TLC). The incumbent shall be sensitive to the diversity of Indian cultures as well as have knowledge of the disease of alcoholism/substance abuse issues. The ability to provide and coordinate direct aftercare activities is critical, as well as to train and coordinate volunteers. This position is for males only due to the population being served. Work hours will be evenings and weekends.

High school diploma or GED. Experience in: Working with people recovering from substance abuse. Ability to: Work with a wide variety of people, and communicate effectively with program staff, residents, and the community. Demonstrate cultural competency in direct service and within the organization. Network effectively with Tribal and community agencies and the multidisciplinary team. Other: Abstinence during employment in this capacity is essential to the overall effectiveness of the program. Individuals in recovery from the disease of alcoholism and/or from other drug dependence must affirm that previous employment performance has not been impaired by alcoholism/substance abuse over the past 2 years. Must have first Aid/CPR or obtain within 90-days of hire. Must possess a valid Oregon State driver's license, insurance and be eligible to operate a GSA vehicle.

Provide individual and group skill building for independent living, physical, and recreational activities as scheduled by TLC Coordinator. Provide for medical supervision in utilizing medical therapeutic regimes. Maintain up-to-date client records. Supervise residents in following house rules. Monitor house maintenance activities. Participate with TLC Coordinator in making referrals to Tribal and other community resources and twelve step groups. Call for outside assistance as needed (police, medics, counselor, etc.). Other duties as assigned.

All new employees will serve a six-month probationary period to enable the General Manger to determine their suitability as a tribal employee. After the six-month probation the employee will be evaluated of his/her performance and at that time it will be decided if the employee is entitled to a regular employee status.
