Introduction

The Accounting Department’s function is to pay, post, receive, balance and reconcile the Tribal financial records. Occasionally an employee may be required to perform other duties that are not in their current job description.  The Accounting Department operates as a team in accomplishing all activities.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED, and six months experience in a clerical field -OR- documented satisfactory completion of a related Work Experience placement, and demonstrated skills to perform the duties for this position.

Knowledge of:  Basic knowledge of accounting; preferred. Scanning documents. Experience in: Use of general office equipment. Ability to: Work independently.  Pay attention to details.

Duties

Dismantle paper files and properly dispose of or store documents as required. Compile, verify accuracy, sort information and scan documents according to priorities to prepare source data for computer entry into a database system.  Accurately separate and label data into appropriate electronic locations.  Verify data entered by comparing it to source documents.  Assist Accounting Clerk with filing accounting documents.  Other duties as assigned.

All new employees will serve a six-month probationary period to enable the General Manger to determine their suitability as a tribal employee. After the six-month probation the employee will be evaluated of his/her performance and at that time, it will be, decided if the employee is entitled to a regular employee status.
