The Accounting Department’s function is to pay, post, receive, balance and reconcile the Tribal financial records. Occasionally an employee may be required to perform other duties that are not in their current job description. The Accounting Department operates as a team in accomplishing all activities.

CTSI is pleased to offer a sign-on bonus for this position of $2000. The selected applicant shall receive one-half the incentive in the first paycheck and the second half after successful completion of 6 (six) consecutive months of employment provided the employee remains employed.  The Sign-on Incentive is not part of the base salary calculation and is considered taxable income.  The Sign-on Incentive is not included in retirement salary calculations.  A full copy of the incentive policy is available upon request.


Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business and one year experience in full charge accounting -OR- an equivalent combination of education and/or experience and satisfactorily completed nine credit hours of accounting courses. Knowledge of: Computer literacy in the areas of payroll production, general ledger, spreadsheet application, and composition of correspondence. Electronic tax and direct deposit transmissions. Current labor laws, basic workers compensation laws, insurances, and federal and state taxes. The administration and applicable regulations of 401k and other similar retirement plans.
Ability to: Understand payroll deductions, fringe benefit processing, and general ledger accounting. Use ten-key and other office equipment. Read and understand financial reports, preferred. Other: Must be able to occasionally work weekends and evenings.


Responsible for all payroll productions. Oversee process of timesheets by Bookkeeper III. Process Timesheets and produce payroll checks from source documents. Audit timesheets for completeness. Code checks requests pertaining to payroll deductions. Compute and enter automatic deposit information to electronically transfer to individual bank accounts. Process Tribal Court ordered and IRS garnishments. Electronic transfer of state and federal taxes and CSO’s. Maintain and reconcile payroll personnel records, files, fringe benefits, and tax deductions, workers compensation reporting, and all federal and state taxes. Works cooperatively with the Human Resources department in exchange of information and forms. Provide financial reports and payroll related documents as required. Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliation’s of all payroll payables, and prepare all general ledger adjusting entries. Create all monthly, quarterly and year end reports to Federal, State and worker comp including W-2 preparation, Issue purchase order numbers. Provide specialized payroll technical assistance to service users. Coordinates paperwork relating to the administration of the Tribe’s and Tribal entities 401K plan, including processing enrollments, bi-weekly contributions and withdrawals. Coordinate meetings with third party administrators, retirement plan investors, and employees. Remain current on 401K rules and regulations. Prepare census report for third party administrators for annual audit. Reconcile third party audit to retirement plan investor’s reports and individual account. Other duties as assigned.

All new employees will serve a six-month probationary period to enable the General Manger to determine their suitability as a tribal employee. After the six-month probation the employee will be evaluated of his/her performance and at that time, it will be, decided if the employee is entitled to a regular employee status.
