Introduction

The Accounting Department’s function is to pay, post, receive, balance and reconcile the Tribal financial records. Occasionally an employee may be required to perform other duties that are not in their current job description. The Accounting Department operates as a team in accomplishing all activities.

CTSI is pleased to offer a sign-on bonus for this position of $2000. The selected applicant shall receive one-half the incentive in the first paycheck and the second half after successful completion of 6 (six) consecutive months of employment provided the employee remains employed.  The Sign-on Incentive is not part of the base salary calculation and is considered taxable income.  The Sign-on Incentive is not included in retirement salary calculations.  A full copy of the incentive policy is available upon request.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business and one year experience in full charge accounting -OR- an equivalent combination of education and/or experience and satisfactorily completed eighteen quarter hours of accounting courses.  Knowledge of: Computer literacy in the areas of fund accounting, and composition of correspondence. Entire accounts receivable process. Perform accounting functions on a computer. Ability to:  Use ten-key and other office equipment. Understand general ledger accounting. Read and understand financial reports, preferred. Other: Must be able to occasionally work weekends and evenings.

Duties

Maintain records of accounts receivable transactions.   Reconcile, balance and investigate discrepancies in accounts receivable and miscellaneous enterprise accounts.  Prepare any required journal entries to adjust accounts.   Perform duties associated with financial data in maintaining all revenue source records.   Process monthly billings for customer services.   Prepare financial reports as required.  Prepare timely and accurate deposits for transport to the bank. Prepare documentation for bank deposits and money transfers between special accounts and the general fund account.  Prepare timely and accurate reconciliation of main CTSI bank accounts – General Fund, Clinic Fund, and Contract Health Services.  Submit monthly bank reconciliations to Accounting Supervisor for review. Verify, allocate, code, and enter details of account transactions.    Provide technical assistance regarding accounting procedures to service users, including but not limited to editing, technical, and reconciliation assistance. Obtain working knowledge of independent accounting system used by the Housing department. Provide accounting assistance to Housing employees with regard to their system, and reconcile resident balances between Housing and the Accounting department.   Assist Housing employees and management with preparation of reports for grant agencies. Yearly accounting of fixed assets and depreciation, with entries prepared and schedules provided to auditors and management.  Yearly reconciliation of Receivable Roll forward and Grant Summary with entries prepared and schedules provided to auditors and management.  May be required to provide full bookkeeping services for independent tribal entities.  Back up Payroll and Finance Bookkeepers when needed. Maintain and process Unclaimed Funds Requests. Bi-annual inventory of Tribal fixed assets.  Other duties as assigned.

All new employees will serve a six-month probationary period to enable the General Manger to determine their suitability as a tribal employee. After the six-month probation the employee will be evaluated of his/her performance and at that time, it will be, decided if the employee is entitled to a regular employee status.
