Introduction

The Accounting Department’s function is to pay, post, receive, balance and reconcile the Tribal financial records. Occasionally an employee may be required to perform other duties that are not in their current job description.  The Accounting Department operates as a team in accomplishing all activities.

CTSI is pleased to offer a sign-on bonus for this position of $2000. The selected applicant shall receive one-half the incentive in the first paycheck and the second half after successful completion of 6 (six) consecutive months of employment provided the employee remains employed.  The Sign-on Incentive is not part of the base salary calculation and is considered taxable income.  The Sign-on Incentive is not included in retirement salary calculations.  A full copy of the incentive policy is available upon request.

An employee is NOT eligible for a Sign-on Incentive if:

  • The employee has held a position in the Tribe within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date) unless that employee was a temp position that converted to a regular position; or
  • The employee has previously received a sign-on incentive from the Tribe within the last 12 months of employment;

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting -OR- an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Minimum of two years’ experience in accounts payable; preferably in Fund Accounting.   Experience in: Computerized accounting systems and windows applications.    Ability to: Use ten-key and other office equipment.  Read and understand financial reports, preferred. Perform accounting functions on a computer. Other: Must be able to occasionally work some weekends and evenings.

Duties

Work all areas in accounts payable: coding, entering, editing, from source documents, running, voiding, and mail out of checks. Issue purchase order numbers.  Communicate with program staff as needed to obtain information to support accounting documentation. Resolve billing disputes with vendors. Responsible for preparing monthly journal vouchers; as assigned (Fleet, Postage, In-kind, Procurement, etc.)   Work with Enrollment staff to ensure accurate address and tax ID information for all Tribal members in accounting system prior to annual per capita distribution.   Maintain and reconcile assigned general ledger accounts. Maintain vendor information to prepare and distribute 1099/1042 forms required by the IRS. Prepare and submit 945 tax form by IRS deadlines; amendments as needed. IRS Tax deposits as required.  Maintain accurate vendor information utilizing TIN Matching program. Provide general technical assistance regarding accounting procedures to program staff. Reconcile corporate credit card to source documents.  Upload check vouchers to client Relia Cards. Assist customers with CTSI Water & Sewer transactions.   Perform tasks assigned by Controller and Accounting Supervisors. Prepare contract health check disbursements; weekly. Coordinate check signers for weekly check runs.  Other duties as assigned.

All new employees will serve a six-month probationary period to enable the General Manger to determine their suitability as a tribal employee. After the six-month probation the employee will be evaluated of his/her performance and at that time, it will be, decided if the employee is entitled to a regular employee status.

Conditions of Employment
