Introduction

CTSI is pleased to offer a sign-on bonus for this position of $1500. The selected applicant shall receive one-half the incentive in the first paycheck and the second half after successful completion of 6 (six) consecutive months of employment provided the employee remains employed.  The Sign-on Incentive is not part of the base salary calculation and is considered taxable income.  The Sign-on Incentive is not included in retirement salary calculations.  A full copy of the incentive policy is available upon request.

 New employees are required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to their first day of employment or submit a request for medical exemption to the Human Resource Manager, prior to starting employment.

The incumbent provides support to the practitioner in performing a wide variety of patient care activities. . Responsible for preparing patient for examinations and procedures and assisting in the delivery of high quality health care. This position provides support services including vital signs, lab testing, maintaining patient records, communicate to patients and other healthcare professionals, assist in referral process, and maintain exam rooms, supplies and equipment.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED and a Certified Medical Assistant certification or Registered Medical Assistant certification– OR – 1 year experience as a Medical Assistant – OR – an equivalent combination of specialized education and/or experience.  Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position to be filled. Candidates that are a certified or registered medical assistant will start at TL 115.

Candidates that do not possess a certification or registration from a medical assistant program, but have combined education and experience will start at TL 114. Ability to: Recognize symptoms and provide recommendations within scope of practice. Knowledge of medications, including potential side effects and interactions. Ability to administer prescribed treatments, perform procedures, and carry out tasks ordered by providers within scope of practice. Respond quickly and appropriately to situations that may arise. Ability to adjust actions in order to provide patient centered care. Ability to adapt to rapidly changing situations. Use effective written and oral communication skills to explain complex medical issues, work with team members and providers, and discuss difficult or sensitive issues. Ability to listen and understand complex information.  Be an effective member of a multi-disciplinary care team. Work, communicate, and contribute to cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of co-workers. Understand and work within tribal structure, culture, and values. Work with diverse populations. Possess an understanding of disease process and communication needs for various age ranges. Apply personal sensitivity to the needs and experiences of others. Provide non-judgmental care towards all persons, utilizing the harm reduction model. Other: Current healthcare provider CPR or ability to obtain within 30-days of hire.

Duties:

Prepare patient for encounter with provider. Including but not limited to; obtain vital signs, review health histories, review medications and allergies, assist patients in filling out questionnaires, review immunization histories. Update medical record and provider. Prepare for and assist provider with a variety of procedures. Ensure clinic area is clean and has necessary equipment/supplies for procedure. Clean up after procedures following clinic policies and procedures. Maintain clean well supplied exam rooms. Follows clinic policies and procedures regarding cleaning and infection control. Process laundry used in medical department according to clinic policies. Maintain inventory of clinic supplies. Order and re-stock supplies as needed. Maintain clean and organized stock areas.  Administer immunizations to adults under supervision of RN. Performs various laboratory tests; collects and handles laboratory specimens. Documents and communicates results.  Provide instruction for and or assist in the collection of specimens. Communicate with patients regarding labs, diagnostic tests, prescription refills, and referrals under direction from provider. Communicate with other health care partners to coordinate care, request medical information, or relay information. Performs all communication under HIPAA guidelines and clinic policies and procedures. Perform EKG, tympanogram, hearing screening, or other diagnostic tests under direction of provider following clinic policies and procedures. Clean and maintain diagnostic equipment per manufactures instructions for use. Utilizes electronic health record to record all patient care and bill for services rendered. Maintain up updated records. Review record for missing information. Work with medical records department to obtain missing medical information. Access a variety of on-line web portals to obtain or verify health information. Work with referral specialist, insurance companies and other health care providers to assist patients with obtaining diagnostic tests, referrals or medications. Submit required medical records or information in order to obtain prior authorization. Documents and communicates results. Other duties as assigned by provider or RN.

 After the six-month probation the employee will be evaluated of his/her performance and at that time, it will be, decided if the employee is entitled to a regular employee status.

Conditions of Employment
