Introduction

 CTSI is pleased to offer a sign-on bonus for this position of $1,000. The selected applicant shall receive one-half the incentive in the first paycheck and the second half after successful completion of 6 (six) consecutive months of employment provided the employee remains employed.  The Sign-on Incentive is not part of the base salary calculation and is considered taxable income.  The Sign-on Incentive is not included in retirement salary calculations.  A full copy of the incentive policy is available upon request.

The incumbent serves as Resident Aide at the Men’s Transitional Living Center (TLC).  The incumbent shall be sensitive to the diversity of Indian cultures as well as have knowledge of the disease of alcoholism/substance abuse issues.  The ability to provide and coordinate direct aftercare activities is critical, as well as to train and coordinate volunteers.  This position is for males only due to the population being served.  Work hours will be 10:00 am to 6:30 pm and weekends.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED. The position will advance to TL 114.1 once certification has been achieved for CRM or CGAC or CADC I. Responsibility for aftercare services will increase with certification and billing practices. Experience in: Working with people recovering from substance abuse and ability to obtain one of the following certifications: Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC I), Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM), or Certified Gambling Addiction Counselor (CGAC). Ability to: The incumbent must complete the required training and obtain certification from the Mental Health and Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO). Work with a wide variety of people, and communicate effectively with program staff, residents, and the community. Demonstrate cultural competency in direct service and within the organization. Network effectively with Tribal and community agencies and the multidisciplinary team. Other: Abstinence during employment in this capacity is essential to the overall effectiveness of the program. Individuals in recovery from the disease of alcoholism and/or from other drug dependence must affirm that previous employment performance has not been impaired by alcoholism/substance abuse over the past 2 years. Must have first Aid/CPR or obtain within 90-days of hire. Must possess a valid Oregon State driver’s license, insurance and be eligible to operate a GSA vehicle.

Duties:

Provide individual and group skill building for independent living, physical, and recreational activities as scheduled by TLC Coordinator. Provide for medical supervision in utilizing medical therapeutic regimes. Maintain up-to-date client records according to Indian Health Service, state, and program standards. Supervise residents in following house rules that includes the collection of meeting slips. Monitor house maintenance activities. Participate with TLC Coordinator in making referrals to Tribal and other community resources and twelve step groups. Call for outside assistance as needed (police, medics, counselor, etc.). Oversee the dispensing of controlled medication (determined by the Medical Director of SCHC). Maintain the house chore list and duties for residents. Collect, observe, and enter UA’s. Learn the TLC Coordinator duties to act as a backup. Sit in on house meetings with the TLC Coordinator as well as weekly staff meetings to update the treatment team with status reports on clients. Participate in weekly staff meetings to discuss clients or other issues at the TLC. Maintain a daily log of events, client activities, and/or shift details. When certified by MHACBO – lead groups appropriate to certification level. Enter, submit, and provide billable services that correlate with their certification level. Use a database system for notes, house meetings, and coordination. Perform and report on routine room checks, overnight request, and other paperwork pertaining to residents stays at the TLC. Adhere to all HIPPA and Ethics guidelines including mandatory reporting. Provide transportation to residents in need of medications, necessities and appointments. Other duties as assigned. When certified by MHACBO – Enter, submit, and provide billable services that correlate with their certification level. Use a database system for notes, house meetings, and coordination. Lead groups appropriate to certification level.

After the six-month probation the employee will be evaluated of his/her performance and at that time, it will be, decided if the employee is entitled to a regular employee status.
